Why I Love Connie Fegurson

A post shared by Connie Ferguson (@connie_ferguson) on
Connie Ferguson is one of the most inspiring women in local entertainment and that’s why I love her.

From being an actress, a successful businesswoman, producer, model and co-owner of Ferguson Films, she sure is one true multi-skilled and talented boss lady.

She is not only inspiring in business but her and husband Shona are our couple goals. They have been married for 16 years and have been dubbed the golden couple in our local entertainment industry and we hold the dear as one of our greatest treasures.

Having a career spanning over 19 years she established a production company with her husband, Shona, that has produced a number of popular TV shows such as Unmarried, Rockville, The Queen and more. On top of that she’s also the owner of True Self-fragrance and has a body care product called Connie Body Care.

The 46-year-old media mogul doesn’t look a day over 30 and stays winning in everything she does.

Local Celebs On Zuma Exit

Former president Jacob Zuma announced on Wednesday night, following a marathon of meetings and postponements that he is resigning as head of the state with immediate effect after serving for close to nine years.

Twitter was buzzing; tweeps were making jokes about the former president ‘breaking up’ with South Africa on Valentine’s Day, with the hashtags #Zexit and #ZumaIsGoneParty dominating on the twitter streets.

Like all South Africans, our local celebs had mixed emotions about the announcement. Most were celebrating, while other celebs like AKA were thanking him for his service.

Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Joburg 2017

By Temba Msiza for People Magazine

Fashion lovers from in and around Joburg gathered at this year’s glamorous Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Joburg #MBFWJ17 from 17-19 August 2017 held at the Mall of Africa. #MBFWJ17 offered all designers, established and new, a platform to showcase their work.

The fashion week was organised by Africa Fashion International, in collaboration with Mercedes-Benz. Featuring the theme #RootedinSyle, it aimed to encourage young people to celebrate and embrace their individual sense of style and Africanness.

The collections showcased 44 local and international designers’ summer/spring collections for 2017.

Africa Fashion International prides itself in growing young and talented designers using the AFI's FastTrack platform, which was set up to help establish designers by offering them mentorships, media exposure and business knowledge.

"Fashion Week is primarily about promoting designers to consumers, buyers and media. The goal is to attract sales for designers and engagement for sponsors,” said Dr Precious Moloi-Motsepe, AFI Founder and CEO.

Dr Tumi Sets Gospel Standards Ablaze

I was not surprised when I saw that Dr Tumi had filled up the dome, not because of the backing he had from corporate and media houses, but after all the awards he won at the Metros and CGA17 it was clear that he has a huge following and support from fans who not only listen to his music but take their time and money to go out and vote for him.

I wrote an article for People Mag immediately when I got to work, I had to make sure that I write it even though our magazine try's by all means to shy away from anything religious, but I just saw that we had to pay homage and congratulate this man of God on his success.

Article for People

Award winning gospel sensation Dr TumiΕ‘ang Makweya, also known as Dr Tumi, became the first South African gospel artist to fill up The Dome on August 19.

The multi-platinum-selling star took Cassper Nyovest’s reign and became the second local artist to fill up The Dome, after Cassper’s 2015 #FillUpTheDome concert and had gospel music lovers and artists all in one room singing along to his award winning songs.

The concert was a live DVD recording concert - The Gathering of Worshippers #GOW2017 for Dr Tumi’s two albums Love & Grace and Heart Of A King. It was Heart Of A King which catapulted his career and turned him into a household name, and resulted in him sweeping awards at the Metro FM Music Awards and Crown Gospel Awards.

The Nothing Without You hit maker was overjoyed by the support he received from his supporters, saying I love you all so much. 😒. You all made this possible. The Dome is filled up cause of your undying support. All the glory belongs to God. We are going to have a time of our lives tomorrow. Thank you to the thousands of you that made it to this event. Truly appreciate your support.” He added.

The Seshego-born artist had fans celebrating his victory and social media users tweeting up a storm after filling up TicketPro Dome, with Minister of Arts and Culture Nathi Mthethwa tweeting “Congratulations to @DrTumisang for making history by becoming the first Gospel artist to sell-out the Ticketpro Dome. #GOW2017
